Dr Nick Pope

Nick’s aim in business is to enable and empower others to achieve the great things to which they aspire. His strengths include keen analytical and evaluative skills, a creative ability to see beyond the obvious, and being able to communicate well across diverse scientific and commercial backgrounds.
At BioSpring he applies a PhD in biochemistry (Birmingham) and MBA (Warwick) together with over 25 years experience in the Bio/Pharma/Medtech industries, to assisting others with business and corporate development, business start-up, and innovation management. Typical activities include mentoring, deal doing, and opportunity identification and evaluation.
Nick has recently been a “Friendly Dragon” at BioCity’s Bio-Entrepreneur School, lectured on Entrepreneurial Leadership at this ‘school’ and at the Nottingham Entrepreneurship Forum and previously has been a Connect Midlands business Mentor, a Venture Champion for BioCity’s Germinator programme, a member of the management board of the Babraham BioConcepts initiative, and Investment Director at Avlar Bioventures.
He has sat on the boards of 7 start-up companies, including CEO of NanoMor BioMedical, and acting Business Development Director of Evocell Ltd, and in his earlier career worked in Business Development at Chiroscience Ltd, and Technology consultancy with the PA Consulting Group and IMS PharmaStrategy.
Nick lives in the rural Southern Peak District, and in his spare time is a volunteer ambulance first responder, and trainer; a parish councillor and charity trustee; and a passionate mountaineer, cyclist and fell runner.
